Economic empowerment of PWDs

As part of the preparation of forthcoming project activities , we started a visit of organizations of persons with disabilities, which should be the bearers of the Coalition for Advocacy of Economic Empowerment in the project “Economic Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities”.

Very good meetings were held in Novi Sad and Valjevo.

PA Training in Novi Sad

In honor of the anniversary of the establishment of the Center Living upright and Gordana Rajkov, initiator and one of the first trainer of independent living in Serbia, Center for Independent Living Serbia held training for personal assistants from 22-24 of February in Novi Sad.

Audio guide

Phone conversation with Nevena Jovanovic just turned into Audio Guide for Personal Assistence. We hope that this Guide will be useful to potential new users of this service.

“Change, monitor, implement”

During the month of July, meetings of working groups were held in five cities where the project “Change, monitor, implement” is implemented. At meetings attended by representatives of organizations of persons with disabilities and representatives of local institutions, the next steps in the project were agreed upon, i.e. greater engagement as the project develops and the preparation of a lobby group for increased monitoring of the implementation of the Strategy for Improving the Position of PWDs in Serbia 2022-2024

Meeting with Municipality representatives

On Monday, May 23, in the office of Center for Independent Living representatives of Savski Venac Mjunicipality, Vladimir Jovanović and Jelena Ćuruvija, had a meeting with CIL representatives and its members. We discussed about accessibility and the improvement of further cooperation.

Program Active Communities 2022

A ceremony on the beginning of Program for Public Advocacy of different Networks in 2022, was held in Belgrade on May 5th.

Center for Independent Living of Persons with Disabilities of Serbia will advocate in five local communities for more consistent and efficient implementation of the Strategy for Improving the Position of Persons with Disabilities in the Republic of Serbia 2022/24.

European Day of Independent Living

At the level of the network of Centers for Independent Living in Serbia, May 5, the European Day of Independent Living, was marked yesterday.

All local Centers in the network of the Center for Independent Living of Persons with Disabilities of Serbia, in their own way, marked this Day, which was dedicated to young people.

Public debate

As part of the Equal Opportunities project, two public debates were held.
The debate was held in Trstenik on February 18, 2022. in the premises of the association “Women’s Initiative” and in Smederevo was held on March 11, 2022.
The debate was held under the title “Active local governments in the process of protection against discrimination against persons with disabilities.”

EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES

Within the program EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES four educational workshops were held in Smederevo, Kragujevac, Leskovac and Trstenik. The first educational workshop was held in Smederevo on December 3, 2021 in the premises of the Historical Archive of Smederevo. The second education was held on February 9, 2022 in the premises of the Red Cross Kragujevac in Kragujevac. The third education was held on March 2, 2022 in the premises of the Women’s Initiative Association in Trstenik. The fourth education “Disability is not a matter of choice – your position is” was held on March 9, 2022 in the premises of the Center for Independent Living of Persons with Disabilities Leskovac.
