NODPO SIGNED PROTOCOL ON COOPERATION WITH FIVE POLITICAL PARTIES

Similar to some international patterns National Organisation of DPOs in Serbia for the first time signed the Protocol on cooperation with five political parties, during the election campaign. Although all political parties received this document only five of them signed: Democratic Party, G 17 +, Ligue of Social Democrats of Vojvodina, Serbian Socialistic Party and Serbian Democratic Party.

NODPO consider this signing as very important momentum as political parties took responsibilities that in the next four year (who ever will be rulling side) they will advocate for the rignts of PWDs through relevant Ministries and bodies, having in mind the principle of disability movement „Nothing about us without us“.

They also confirmed that they will support the ratification of UN Convention , implementation of Strategy for improvement of status of PWDs 2007-2015, as well as adoption and implementation set of laws in area of disability. NODPO offered its expertise, knowledge, information and contacts of DPOs and individuals from disability movement, as well as partnership on solving all relevant disability issues.

Population of PWDs in Serbia is numerous and it is estimated that there are 800.000 PWDs . NO DPO is Union of 11 representatives, republic organizations which gather and advocate for interests of more than 500.000 members, persons with different disabilities, their legal representatives and family members .
